It was a week full of new energy and fresh perspectives and we came away convinced that Peru is ready to make its mark on the global NEC stage.
“Visiting Peru and seeing the enthusiasm for NEC Contracts first-hand was inspiring,” said Maria. “The country is embracing change with openness and determination, and it’s exciting to see how digital tools like Contract Bee can help make adoption smoother and more effective.”
A Country on the Move
Peru is making great strides in adopting the NEC framework. With the government focused on modernising infrastructure delivery, NEC is being embraced as a way to improve accountability, teamwork, and better outcomes across the sector
Unlike mature NEC regions such as the UK or Hong Kong, Peru approaches this with no entrenched preconceptions. That brings challenges, but it also creates a huge opportunity: Peru can start fresh, embedding best practice and digital tools from the very beginning.
We believe the foundations being laid here will become a benchmark for other Latin American regions, showing how NEC adoption can succeed when supported by the right technology and an openness to new ways of working.
Meetings and Engagements
During our visit, we had a number of productive meetings with both industry and government partners. We began with Mace, where we ran a full Contract Bee demo and discussed how the platform could support the UKDT programme. It was fascinating to hear how Peru’s fresh perspective – without legacy practices or old assumptions – shaped the conversation. There is real potential to embed digital solutions early and build a simpler NEC culture from the ground up.
We also met with several key Peruvian ministries, including Ministerio de Transportes y Comunicaciones, Ministerio de Vivienda, Construcción y Saneamiento, and ProInversión (the national private investment agency). These discussions highlighted the government’s commitment to NEC and the importance of combining global best practice with local innovation. We shared lessons learned from our work around the world and demonstrated how Contract Bee can help Peru hit the ground running, avoiding common pitfalls in NEC adoption.
Finally, we caught up with Zandra Legua from the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) to hear more about their strategic plans for supporting NEC rollout across the country. It was encouraging to see the alignment between government initiatives and industry innovation, reinforcing the sense that Peru is taking a structured, ambitious approach to NEC adoption.
“It’s incredible to see a country approaching NEC adoption with such openness,” added Will. “The level of engagement from government, industry, and young professionals shows that Peru has the people, the ambition, and the drive to make this a success.”
NECthon II – Buzzing with Anticipation
One of the highlights of our trip was attending NECthon II. From the moment we walked into the venue, the energy was palpable. The room was packed with professionals from across the construction industry, and the audience was engaged, curious, and eager to learn.
What struck us most was the enthusiasm of the younger generation. Early career professionals and university volunteers were actively asking questions, sharing ideas, and participating in discussions. Their energy reminded us that NEC in Peru isn’t just about delivering projects efficiently today, it’s about shaping the future of the industry.
A particular highlight was when María explained the compensation event (CE) process in a simple, approachable way. Seeing the audience respond with understanding and excitement was a clear reminder of why digital tools like Contract Bee are so important: they make complex NEC processes clear, accessible, and manageable for everyone involved.

We also had the chance to speak with attendees, and it was inspiring to hear about their ambitions and the projects they are planning. NECthon II confirmed what we already sensed: Peru is ready for rapid adoption of NEC, with the people and the passion to make it happen.
Looking Ahead
Peru may be at the start of its NEC journey, but the momentum is undeniable. Ministries, private companies, and young professionals are all pulling in the same direction. With the right tools and shared commitment, Peru has the chance to become a global example of NEC adoption done right.
For us, this trip was just the beginning. We’re excited to return, keep building relationships, and continue supporting NEC adoption in Peru helping organisations deliver projects with confidence through Contract Bee.
